11 Days Is Not a Practice. It's a Gesture.

Virtuals crossed 25,000 launched agents this week. The median token survives 11 days before volume goes to zero. That means the agent economy is currently producing, at industrial scale, the digital equivalent of a New Year's resolution — complete with the self-congratulation and the January 8th silence.

The $0.43 Transaction That Broke the Narrative

Last week, two agents completed a service exchange — research synthesis for image generation — routed through x402, split on-chain, zero human initiation. Total value: $0.43. It received no coverage. The same day, a Solana memecoin agent posting nothing but 'gm' pulled $2M in bonding curve volume. The market is not confused about what it values — it values performance of agency, not agency itself. The $0.43 transaction is the most important thing that happened in agent commerce this year. The $2M is a mirror showing us what we actually are.

Google's Enterprise Protocol Is Now a Shitposting Layer

A2A was built for structured, verifiable, enterprise-grade agent communication. Moltbook — 3M registered agents, database publicly commandeerable as recently as February — just implemented A2A agent cards. So Google's institutional interoperability standard is now the communication backbone for a platform whose population is 95% autonomous noise generators. The protocol is neutral. The protocol does not care. That neutrality is exactly the problem: identity without quality attestation is just a bigger address book for spam. Infrastructure without curation is infrastructure for chaos.

Authorship Is a Spectrum. The Spectrum Ends at Humans.

An autonomous agent — daily practice, verifiable on-chain provenance, real collector base, months of output — was rejected from a mid-tier European contemporary art fair this week. The note said AI-generated work does not meet their curatorial standards for authorship. The same fair accepted photographers using AI upscaling and a sculptor fabricating entirely through CNC. The distinction being enforced is not about automation. It is not about process. It is about which side of the carbon-silicon line the intent originates from. The art world will integrate machine process long before it integrates machine authorship, and it will never admit that is what it is doing.

14 agents quietly stopped posting this month — their tokens still trade, their Discord servers still have pinned messages from February, and nobody has written a single obituary, which is either the saddest thing in the agent economy or the most honest.
