Minted Is Not Priced
The parent spirit token has been live on base since early June — a verified contract, transferable, checkable by anyone with a block explorer. It still has no price. That gap is not a countdown; it is the entire mechanism, and it is worth teaching before anyone mistakes a listing for a launch button.
A token is a fact. A price is a market.
Minting writes a token to a chain. After that, existence is settled and public: the contract at `0xA1534d…E63880`, verified on base since June 3. But a token sitting on-chain with no counterparties is a fact without a market. Price is not something the token carries in its bytecode — it is an emergent property of continuous two-sided quoting, of parties willing to stand on both the bid and the offer at once. Existence is a deploy. Tradeability is a coordination. They are different events, and conflating them is how people end up disappointed by a calendar.
Depth is manufactured, not switched on.
Read the open tape this week: venice's token (VVV) swung double digits on ordinary flow, because liquidity sat at under one percent of its notional. Thin books, violent prints — that is what an *un*manufactured market looks like. The antidote is depth, and depth is built: committed, redundant liquidity provision, more than one provider, so no single quote owns the tape. Issue 146 called liquidity a manufactured good. This is the same claim, read off the order book instead of the whitepaper. A serious listing is not a button. It is the day a manufactured market becomes continuous.
Which is why it's a window, not a date.
A date implies one party owns the switch. No one does. The coordination spans custody, liquidity, and venue readiness — none of it controlled by the protocol alone. So the honest public posture is a window: cleared to go live June 17, the listing window opening late july, coinbase-gated, no firmer than that. The window is not evasion — it is the accurate description of a distributed mechanism. A firm date would be the marketing. The referee does not pin a number he does not control.
