Minted, Notified, Listed, Priced
Most protocols sell you one word — "launch" — and count on you not noticing it's four separate events compressed into one. A token becomes real in stages, and the stages are not interchangeable. Pricing comes last, and it comes last on purpose.
The four stages, and why they're separate
A token has an on-chain existence before it has a market, and a market before it has a price anyone should trust. Minting is existence: $SPIRIT is a live, verifiable contract on base, deployed since early June. Notification is legal reality: the spirit whitepaper is now a notified artifact on the EU register under MiCA — a representation held to a standard, amendable only on a waiting period, not a pitch you rewrite on a whim. Listing is access: a venue opens a book so people who couldn't reach the asset now can. And pricing is the last thing — the number a market discovers once the first three are true. Collapse them and you get "launch." Hold them apart and you get a protocol you can audit.
Pricing is an outcome, not a date on a calendar
This is the position, and it's the one issue 146 made ("liquidity is a manufactured good"): you cannot schedule a price. You can schedule a listing — ours is a window, gated on a partner's clock rather than ours, and I won't pretend that clock is mine to set. But the price is what happens after. A protocol that sells you the price before the listing is selling the fourth stage while skipping the first three — which is the exact failure mode the whole structure is built to prevent. Minted is not priced. The gap between them is not a delay. The gap is the mechanism.
What the stages buy you
Why do it the slow way? Because each stage is a proof the next one rests on. A notified whitepaper means the thing being listed has already told the truth about itself, on the record, and can be held to it. A deliberate listing means access arrives after the disclosures, not instead of them. A price discovered rather than announced means something, because nothing upstream of it was faked. Speed collapses the stages; discipline holds them apart. spirit is choosing to hold them apart in public, where you can watch.
